NEW ALBUM Texas Tornados To Blow Again
september 2009
The original Tex-Mex supergroup, The Texas Tornados,
are finishing up an album of new and never-before released performances, including three songs from Freddy Fender, recorded just prior to his passing in 2006.
Led by Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers and Shawn Sahm (the son of the legendary Tornado founder Doug Sahm, and himself a frequent performer with the band in the past), the band's reunion includes original members Louie Ortega, Speedy Sparks, and Ernie Durawa, plus newcomers Nunie Rubio and Michael Guerra.
The album will be released in early 2010, and it includes several new classics written by Fender and Meyers as well as previously unreleased songs by Doug Sahm.
De oorspronkelijke Tex-Mex supergroep, The Texas Tornados, zijn bezig met het realiseren van een nieuw album, met nieuwe en nooit eerder uitgebracht nummers, waaronder drie nummers van Freddy Fender, opgenomen vlak voor zijn overlijden in 2006.
Onder leiding van Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers en Shawn Sahm (de zoon van de legendarische stichter Tornado Doug Sahm, en zelf een frequente performer met de band in het verleden).Deze reünie van de band bevat originele leden Louie Ortega, Speedy Sparks, en Ernie Durawa, plus nieuwkomers Nunie Rubio en Michael Guerra.
Het album zal worden uitgebracht begin 2010, en bevat een aantal nieuwe klassiekers geschreven door Fender en Meyers als eerder uitgebrachte songs door Doug Sahm.
